Description

Swansea’s Antarctic Explorer: Edgar Evans 1876-1912

Edgar Evans was part of Captain Scott’s expedition to the South Pole in 1910.  A Gower native, he rose through the ranks of the Royal Navy, meeting Scott as they served together on the HMS Majestic. He then went on to serve on Scott’s Discovery expedition, before being recruited for the Terra Nova.

Often ignored in other histories of that ill-fated expedition, this biography by Gary Gregor of a little-known and underrated member of the team seeks to redress the balance.

Published in 1995, softback, 103 pages with black and white illustrations.

This is a very interesting book and one which I highly recommend. It is great to find an account on one of the forgotten men of the tragic polar expedition.
