I bought this book expecting more of a social history than an academic dissertation, so the style is rather dry and lacking in colour.
It’s an entirely factual account of the development of Swansea’s earliest parks during the nineteenth century, but it would benefit from better quality imagery and perhaps some photos comparing past and present.
A few detailed maps to reflect the finer points of discussion, such as the options for Jersey Park, would also have been helpful, as would enlarging the minute font used for the quotes which I suspect was simply a space-saving exercise.
