The story of Swansea’s ‘Bad Girls’ is a fascinating one, following a selection of Victorian women through a path of crime and prostitution in the city. Inspired by mugshots of female prisoners from the Swansea Prison collection at the West Glamorgan Archive Service, author Elizabeth Belcham was inspired to delve into the lives of these women and discover how they had come to end up on the wrong side of the law.
