Description
A new CD map resource from the West Glamorgan Archive Service, showing Victorian Swansea in Maps.
This resource CD is based on two maps of Swansea made by the Local Board of Health and the council in 1855 and 1867. They give fascinating information about the nature of the town at an important point in its history. The town was expanding rapidly and this can be seen by comparing the maps. They show urban areas we know today as fields and hedgerows, and main roads as county lanes. You can also trace the industrial sites in the Swansea Valley.
